Summer’s Gone Lyrics:

When he told me that dad was dead

It kept repeating in my head

That moment I knew summer’s gone

It’s time for us to travel on

He talked a lot with his floppy beard

You’d say bless you and he just sneered

He yelled about some “Hower Power”

As he climbed the water tower

That moment I knew summer’s gone

It’s time for us to travel on

Once, he burst in with his wild legs and said

“I wana be baptized!”

I knew he was off his meds and said

“Nice hammer but wrong guy.”

He threw it up into the fan

He laughed while I ran

A dying man in a house full of clocks

But still you’re runnin’ out of time

My friend knew he had to fill the air

He told a joke about a lemon on a pear

That moment I knew summer’s gone

It’s time for us to travel on

Nanan said as she raised her brow

“Whatever you do, don’t sell that cow!”

As we helped her crawl up the stairs

He told a joke about a lemon on a pear

That moment I knew summer’s gone

It’s time for us to travel on

And in the end you’ll always be

The biggest fish in the smallest pond

You put metal in nuclear heat

And blew us all beyond

The water’s warm down here in Hell

But I’m missing you and that church bell

Stuck in that barn in a hundred degrees

Wish you survived that summer breeze

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
